Judith is married to George Baxter, Alderman and Guildmaster of the Guild of Hostmen (Coal Merchants Guild) of Newcastle. Guildmaster Baxter does much business with the foreign nationals that come through the seaport of Newcastle and so is often "around the corner" at another tavern "doing business" or otherwise meeting with men of import and means. Occasionally, he is so busy, Judith must assist with these business meetings, as well, and may shockingly be seen with foreign men in public houses.
The Baxters are one of the wealthier families of Newcastle. They had one child that died at birth, and this, along with her inability to have any more is a great source of grief for Judith. The Baxters have a close connection to the Catesbys, in that Grizelda Sticknell is a close friend of Judith's, and George has often funded Mayor Catesby's political efforts (and intrigues) at Judith's behest. Judith is known to be supercilious, very aware of her money and station, but secretly has a bit of a gambling problem, and can frequently be found wagering at "Better Than Guard Duty" with the Mayor and assorted scholars of Studium Generale.
